Sponsor-It makes a DIFFERENCE

"Of course, God doesn't love us for what we do, but for who we are. And because we're loved so powerfully and personally, we're enabled to show love, and the source of love, to others--especially children."

"Child sponsorship is one of the best ways I know to affirm a child who sorely needs it. Sadly, children living in poverty often don't get many opportunities to feel special. Their parents are focused on survival--sometimes devoting every waking thought to it--without much attention left over to encourage or celebrate their children. But then a person faraway writes a letter or sends a card. To a child, the knowledge that someone cares is priceless."

Richard Stearns the President of World Vision wrote this in the Winter 2010 magazine. Can you imagine being in this situation? Not being able to provide everything your child or children need or showering them with encouragement and celebrating them? Our life here is so different and so blessed. Our children have the opportunity to go to school, to have three meals a day, and different clothes to wear. We don't have to focus our attention on survival like they do. In Burundi, across the border from Rwanda, one family has a 40 minute walk down a steep hill to fetch water from a spring shared by hundreds of people, with pushing and shoving at the bottom as people jockey for position. "We can wait two hours for water. Everyone fights."

We can make a difference though by sponsoring a child! It's only $35/month and makes such an impact in that child's life and his or her family. Wouldn't you want your child to have everything he or she deserves? Please think of this mother or father, who can't do that. Wouldn't you want someone to help you?

**November 2nd** I am so very thankful that I have two healthy parents who took care of me and loved me and did everything they could to make sure I had a bright future.
