The Cross

Loneliness, isolation, betrayal, condemnation, all awful feelings and Jesus felt them all! When He went to the cross His good friend denied him. When He went to the cross he was mocked and ridiculed. When He went to the cross he took ALL of OUR sins upon Himself! Jesus lived a perfect life. One without any sin and then beat death by dying. His death freed us from Hell and Satan. Satan has no hold on us. We are God's, if we choose to be.

I have the Quest Study Bible and one of the questions in it is "Did Jesus resist his mission?" No, but he did wonder if there might not be a less painful alternative. Though Jesus was fully God, he was also fully human as is evident in this vulnerable moment. Jesus was still committed to his purpose to be the Savior of the world (John 12:27). However, the intense suffering he faced caused him to turn to His Father for help--just as we might pray when confronted with overwhelming emotional or physical pain.

We'll never be able to grasp the full measure of what Jesus did for us but we can definitely put ourselves in His shoes. What emotions he must have been feeling! He knew what was coming, how awful. Can you imagine sacrificing for someone the way Jesus did for us?

The good news today.....Christ is Risen and Alive! We are free.
